“End of the Year Celebration”

Dear Parents/Guardians:

This annual celebration will be held for all the 8^th grade students at SMS. This will be an afternoon of fun and farewell as your students make the journey from middle school to high school. There will be a slide show, awards and a reception to follow. Please come and celebrate with us.

When: Wednesday June 6^th

Time: 1:00 – 3:05

Where: SMS Annex Gym

** Donations of store-bought cookies and juice for our reception are appreciated. Please bring donations to the main office by Tuesday, June 5^th. If you have pictures of your child you would like included in the slideshow please email Mrs. Morrill at cmorrill@scappoose.k12.or.us **

May 7th Band Assembly

On Monday, May 7, the Scappoose High School Jazz Choir and Jazz Band will be performing at a morning assembly for Scappoose Middle School students and staff.

The program will begin with the Jazz Choir singing an “island style” version of Over the Rainbow, a swing ballad called At Last and a recent pop tune called Forget You. The performance will then switch gears with the SHS Jazz Band performing St. Louis Blues, a Latin Tune called Romancing the Chili Pepper, and ending with a jazz funk selection called Critical Mass.

This performance is timely in that jazz band and jazz choir tryouts for the 2012-2013 school year are coming soon. The students of SMS will have an up-close look at the type of music performed, who is involved and may also help spur greater interest in these performing groups from at Scappoose High School.

These physicals are good for youth football for 1 year. Scappoose School athletics must have a physical on-file every 2 years for ANY sport/ANY season.. This is the opportunity for your District Nurse sponsored SPORTS physicals.

Please come with Sports Physical Form filled out and signed by parent if student is under 15.

APPTS. should be scheduled with Janet Wentz at the District Office 503-543-6374

Please inform people that we work kids through in 10 min. slots so please have patience as we can have delays just like any other clinic and want to serve as many kids as we can.

Jog-A-Thon

The 7^th Annual Jog-A-Thon Fundraiser will be on April 17^th. The purpose of the Jog-A-Thon is to raise funds for the purchase of PE equipment and technology along with promoting lifelong fitness. The funds raised from the Jog-A-Thon will go towards the purchase of Yoga equipment (students LOVE it), Pickleball equipment, general PE equipment and hopefully a television monitor for the viewing of educational materials related to health and fitness. If you would like to support our Jog-A-Thon fundraiser you can sponsor an individual student or contact the office at 503-543-7163 to make a tax deductable donation. Thank you in advance for your help and support of our students and the PE program at SMS.
